To be able to install this application silently we need to find out more about the possible installation switches we can use.
Run PDFCreator-2_5_1-Setup.exe /? , this gives you a help dialog showing all the available options.
In order to install PDF Creator with our custom settings, we need to run the setup with the /saveinf command. For example: PDFCreator-2_5_1-Setup.exe /saveinf="settings.inf"
The setup will ask you to enter these settings:
- Language.
- Expert settings.
- Name of the printer.
We keep the default name. - Install location.
We keep the default location. - PDF Architect.
We uncheck this because we only want the PDF printing functionality. If you want to convert or modify a PDF, you can leave it checked. - Start menu folder.
- Install for all users, quick launch icon and context menu.
The install for all users option is very important here, while distributing the software we will not be using the user account of the end user(s). This option will make sure that the software will work for all users that log on at the workstation.
Deny or accept the PDF Architect if the setup asks it again.
Deny the web companion offer and the other free security advertisements, if you want to keep your workstations clean. If you do not want any advertisements you need to buy the PDF Creator Plus license.
Don't show help.
Finish the installation.
Now you will find the settings.inf file on the location you have run the setup from, or the location of your command prompt, put this file in the same folder of the setup file.
Run the setup again with /loadinf command to install the application. For example: PDFCreator-2_5_1-Setup.exe /loadinf="settings.inf"
